A Trip to Mountain Film in Telluride
A contingent of the Wild & Scenic Film Festival team attended the 34th annual Mountain Film Festival over Memorial Day weekend. Melinda Booth, Festival Director, and Shana Maziarz, Creative Director, both trekked to Telluride, CO for four days of films, coffee talks, presentations, a reading frenzy, gallery walk, ice cream social and award ceremony.
Between the two of them, more than 35 films were screened! If you don’t know about Mountain Film, they focus on films that tell the story of issues that matter, cultures worth exploring, environments worth preserving and conversations worth sustaining. And, they are one of the festivals that inspired Wild & Scenic.
The trip served as a great opportunity to eat, sleep, breathe and live film as planning for the 11th Annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival starts to get serious. It was also an opportunity to meet other film festival professionals, filmmakers, film lovers, environmentalists and generally inspiring people. We’d like to extend an enthusiastic “job well done” to our friends at Mountain Film and thank them for a wonderful experience.
As anyone who has attended Wild & Scenic knows, a film festival involves much more than simply watching films. Through the shared experience of education, inspiration, and celebration a community evolves. It is the full complement of film, presentations, workshops, art, conversations and community that leads to the powerful, and sometimes life altering, experience that our festival attendees tell us they have time and again. Keep your eyes peeled for updates as the 2013 Wild & Scenic Film Festival takes shape and expect to be wowed.
