The Wild & Scenic Film Festival at the Yuba Theatre in Downieville

Downieville Theater
Fri. Sept 16 & Sat. Sept. 17 at 7:00pm
The Wild and Scenic Film Festival is headed north to the historic Yuba Theatre in Downieville. Nestled in the North Yuba canyon, a stone’s throw from the Yuba River itself, the Yuba Theatre is the perfect place to enjoy this exciting series of adventure, nature, and environmental films. The Yuba River is the lifeblood of the Northern Sierra. We drink its water and renew our spirit on its banks. On your way the festival, enjoy a scenic drive on highway 49 along the river corridor while you appreciate the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada and the Yuba River watershed. The Wild and Scenic Film Festival, North Yuba Edition is being held in tandem with watershed clean-up throughout the Sierra.
You’ll experience the adrenalin of kayaking the wildest rivers, climbing the highest peaks, and trekking across the globe with adventure films from around the world. And you’ll celebrate the natural and wild world in ways you never dreamed possible. We have chosen the best of the Wild and Scenic Festival to fill two full nights of programming. For a complete program listing please check out our website at www.sierracountyartscouncil.org where you will also find links to view trailers and order tickets.
What do dogs dream of? Local filmmaker, Will Keir, seems to have a pretty good idea of what that may be and shows us in his latest short film, Water Loving Doggies ll. Featuring the Yuba River and Will’s four legged friends, Water Loving Doggies ll, is a doggie dream come true. Will will be attending the festival in Downieville on Saturday night with his good friend Odin, a Spanish Mastiff. Odin hails from the Czech Republic and may be the only Spanish Mastiff in California. Odin is a gentle giant and always makes a big impression wherever he goes.
