CATEGORY GUIDLINES
- Environmental Film: Wild & Scenic accepts all films with an environmental theme including documentaries, animation, shorts, features, and narratives. We look for environmental films that are entertaining, educational, and above all inspirational. We want our audiences to be inspired to make a difference in their communities and world.
- Adventure Film: Wild & Scenic screens entertaining and inspiring adventure films from all over the world. Topics include climbing, mountaineering, surfing, and more. A special preference to adventure films with an environmental focus.
- High School Student Competition: Are you a high school student who dreams about becoming a famous filmmaker and making a difference with your film? Here is your chance to try to make it to the big time. Create an environmental or adventure film to be considered for screening and a cash prize at the largest environmental film fest in the United States! To qualify for the High School Student category, you must be currently enrolled in high school or you will be graduating during the 2010 year.
- College Student Competition: Are you a college student filmmaker? We encourage you to submit your student environmental and adventure films. We accept documentaries, animation, kids' films, shorts, and even music videos. Your films should be informative, engaging, and inspiring. To qualify for the College Level category, you must be currently enrolled in a film/art school, college or university. Student filmmakers who graduated during the 2009-2010 school year are also eligible. Cash award and other perks!
ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES
- All filmmakers will be notified via email, acceptance or no acceptance, by November 15, 2010.
- Submission copies need to be in the NTSC or PAL DVD format. NTSC is the preferred format for screening.
- DVDs must be clearly labeled with name, address, phone, and email. Please make sure the cover and film are labeled. If you want your preview film returned, please supply a padded, self-addressed, stamped envelope. Entrant is responsible for customs clearances for return supplies.
- Because we are an environmental film festival, we strive to have sustainable practices. Please do not send us an overload of printed promo materials with your film. All press kit info should be included on your WAB online submission. For official selection films ONLY, filmmakers must supply 1-2 high resolution digital promo stills for festival publicity and preferably a trailer for your film. We will notify you by email when we need these.
- All entries selected into our 2011 festival grant SYRCL the rights to use any footage from the preview DVD and all other SYRCL publicity materials pertaining to promotional purposes for the Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival.
- If accepted, the screening prints must arrive at the SYRCL office no later than December 1, 2010, or the entry will not be included in the festival. Filmmakers are responsible for shipping costs to the festival. All copies of the films become SYRCL property unless otherwise directed.
- Although the utmost care will be taken with every entry, SYRCL is not responsible for the loss or damage of any film.
- Non-English entries must be submitted with English subtitles.
- Entry fees are NONREFUNDABLE and may be paid in the form of Visa, Mastercard, check or money order paid in U.S. dollars.
