Artist Statement

I believe in the power of narrative and in sharing stories through mixed-media artworks to impart education necessary for cultural growth. My work explores the connection between humanity and the natural world and how the two are inextricably linked. My primary artistic purpose is to inspire inquiry, social and environmental justice, and awareness through art. Water Reflections, and the series it is from, are about reverence for and communion with nature, specifically our local Yuba River. My deepest hope is that these art pieces inspire people’s sense of connection to the landscapes they inhabit and the desire to preserve and respect those natural spaces.
