SYRCL Celebrates Our 35th Birthday at the Yuba River Cleanup

When the Wild & Scenic Film Festival staff arrive at work each day, we make our way back to “film fest land’, a section within a larger office filled with a staff dedicated to protecting and saving the Yuba River. The Wild & Scenic Film Festival is a program of the South Yuba River Citizen’s League (SYRCL). Our parent non-profit was founded in 1983 by grassroots activists determined to protect the South Yuba River from dams. Ultimately, SYRCL won permanent protections for 39 miles of the South Yuba River under California’s Wild and Scenic Rivers Act.

For the past 21 years, SYRCL has hosted the Yuba River Cleanup.   SYRCL will, once again in 2018, unite over 800 people to participate in the Cleanup. Since 1998, Yuba lovers have rallied to remove more than 100 tons of garbage and recycling.

This year is SYRCL’s 35th Birthday! The 35th Birthday Cleanup will end with a Volunteer Appreciation Party.
