Wild & Scenic showcases environmental and adventure film to inspire activism, and in collaboration with Nevada County Arts Council, our art exhibition does the same. Artists submit pieces that address a broad interpretation of the theme of “environment.” Featured artwork enhances the immersive nature of the festival experience.

2019 Wild & Scenic Art Judges
Kathleen Gallegos is the Founding Executive and Artistic Director of Avenue 50 Studio, Inc., in Los Angeles. Avenue 50 Studio has been presenting free and low cost programming since its inception. Gallegos’ personal work has been featured at the Mexican Cultural Institute, the Museo de Arte in Mazatlan, Studio Channel Islands Art Center, the Wright Gallery at California Polytechnic Institute, the Instituto Cultural Interamericano in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and many more. Gallegos was appointed to the California Arts Council by Governor Jerry Brown in Oct. 2014 and reappointed in 2018. Read more…
William L. Fox is a writer, independent scholar, and poet whose work focuses on how human cognition transforms land into landscape. In the visual arts, Fox has exhibited text works in more than two dozen group and solo exhibitions in seven countries, serves as the Associate Director of the Nevada Museum of Art, and as the visual arts and architecture critic for the Reno Gazette-Journal. Steve Solinsky has made his living primarily through the sale of his fine art prints since 1975. His photographs have been exhibited in many galleries and museums throughout the country. With a compelling interest in art and design and a Bachelor of Architecture degree, the Berkeley born and raised artist worked for years solely with the slow and deliberate pace of 4×5 view cameras. Today, he brings that same experience with the medium format and digital cameras he uses. Read more…
The Wild & Scenic 2019 Art Jury selects from submissions in the following categories:
- 2-Dimensional: All paintings, collages, mixed media, and panels with 2 inches or less of depth variation
- 3-Dimensional: All sculpture and pieces with depth variations greater than 2 inches
- Photography: All photography, including digital and film, color, black and white
- Students (under 21)
Judges will award prizes to the top submission in each category.
